OUR charity of the month for August is St Mark Universal Coptic Care. This week reporter Chloe Laversuch learns more about the organisation’s scheme to boost residents’ happiness

AS well as providing life-changing medical equipment and prescriptions to people who are suffering in difficult circumstances across the world, St Mark Universal Coptic Care also helps improve the lives of residents on the charity’s doorstep.

The organisation has been supporting Project Happiness, which aims to boost self-worth and resilience for people tackling depressions, anxiety and traumatic experiences.

Organisation No Rain No Rainbows is able to deliver workshops to vulnerable people thanks to the support of the charity, helping them transform their lives.

Chairman of St Mark Universal Coptic Care, Dr Naser Fouad, said: “Our charity is dedicated to improving health and wellbeing outcomes for vulnerable people, both overseas and here in Cheshire.

“We live in an age when 20 per cent of people will experience significant psychological distress over the course of a year and, with mental health still often regarded as a taboo subject, we badly need more initiatives like this to give young people the tools they need to feel in control of their lives, and ensure they don’t reach crisis point.”

Katie Hughes from No Rain No Rainbows added: “Over the past two years, we have seen the impact of our workshops in empowering people to turn their lives round and find purpose, meaning and self-worth. We are delighted that St Mark Universal Copts Care have recognised the difference we are making and are supporting us to increase access to our workshops.”
