MEET the real Fireman Sam at Birchwood Fire Station’s open day.
Families looking for something fun to do on Saturday are invited to the free event, where firefighters will be demonstrating their skills with a rope rescue display and road safety show.
Children’s activities include face painting and Fireman Sam games.
And visitors will get the chance to have a look around modern and vintage fire engines before having a snack at what promises to be the safest barbecue in town.
Open Day organiser and watch manager Mark Pollard said: "This is a great way for the community to discover more about their local fire station.
“We would like as many people as possible to come along to the open days, have a great time and leave with some vital fire and road safety messages.”
The team will also be fundraising for their colleague, Birchwood on-call firefighter Vicki Griffiths, who suffered a serious injury at the gym.
There will be a raffle with prizes to be won to help raise money.
The open day runs from 10am until 4pm at the Ordnance Avenue station and for information call 411310.
