INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing into a suspected arson attack in Bewsey.

Detectives from Cheshire Police are carrying out enquiries after emergency services were deployed to a fire involving a motorbike outside a flat on Bewsey Park Close at 5am on Sunday.

The blaze caused damage to the front door of the property as well as the neighbouring property.

A man and his dog, who were inside the building, were rescued by firefighters.

DC Lee Ellis said: “The fire caused extensive damage to the doors and the motorbike and blocked the escape route from the property, with firefighters having to rescue one of the residents through the first floor window.

"Thankfully no-one was injured, but this could have ended with serious injury or worse.

"I would urge anyone with information to contact the police so that we can find those responsible.”
