A NEW performance group will be showcasing its work and introducing its members to an audience for the first time on Friday, August 18.

Soup Productions will be hosting its debut event at The Studio in Lacey Street in Widnes.

The variety night, which will also act as a fundraiser for the group, will consist of music, comedy, monologues, poetry and opportunities for the audience to get involved too.

Padgate resident Mike Perks teamed up with two friends, Claire Williams and John Donaldson, who he met while performing and writing plays to set up Soup.

Mike, who is also a member of the Warrington stage groups Centenary and Encore, said: “This will be a great opportunity to introduce the new, talented members we have recruited to an audience for the first time.

“As we are also a new group it is an opportunity to fund raise towards our projects during the latter half of the year.”

The group’s aim is to encourage the next generation of north west talent by specialising in performing, writing, live music and everything in between.

Mike added: “We are currently preparing a band night in October for fans of the live music scene and our first theatre production of Grimmsvalley will be performed on November 24 and 25.

“All three events will take place at The Studio in Widnes, another community based venue.

“Soup is all about collaborating within the community and delivering a positive and professional experience of the arts.

“The Studio is an important venue to us as it inhabits what we are looking to achieve as a group too.

“The cast are working really hard on the first production and the support we have received from behind the scenes is outstanding.

“This is a big moment for the company and they are excited for what lies ahead.”
