THE devastated family of a driver who died in hospital following a crash on the M6 have paid tribute to the 'fun-loving' man.

Sam Kelly, 26, from Northwich, died following a collision involving a flatbed lorry and a Vauxhall Insignia on Saturday morning.

His family said: "Sam ‘The Man’ is a beautiful, fun-loving go-getter who lived and loved life to the full.

"He will be sadly missed by his fiancé Lana, his stepson-to-be Ashley, his father Michael, mum Carol and stepdad Ross.

“Sam was a twin to Lucia, little bro to Oliver, and a big bro to Jonny and Wills, grandson to Peter and Madge, Kate and Graham and the special bromance with Matt, and the last family member Bob the dog.

“All his extended family and loyal friends whose lives he touched will always miss him.”

Emergency services were deployed to the M6 northbound at 8am between junction 19 at Knutsford and junction 20 at Lymm following a collision involving a car and a lorry.

Mr Kelly was airlifted to Aintree Hospital where he later died.

Police say the driver of the lorry was uninjured.

The northbound motorway was closed for a number of hours while officers carried out investigations into the crash which involved a flatbed lorry and a Vauxhall Insignia.

The southbound motorway was closed for a short period of time to allow the air ambulance to land at the scene.
