A 21-YEAR-OLD singer who was dubbed the 'new Charlotte Church' after wowing judges on Britain’s Got Talent in 2010 has appeared in court in connection with a cannabis smuggling plot.
Olivia Archbold, from Newton-le-Willows, appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday following her arrest.
Olivia, who is believed to have attended Culcheth High School, has been charged with being concerned in the fraudulent evasion of a prohibition on the importation of a class B drug and being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug of class B.
The singer, who made it through to the semi-finals of the ITV talent show in 2010, has been remanded on bail.
She will next appear at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday, August 30, for a trial after pleading not guilty.
Her rendition of Sarah McLachlan’s In the Arms of The Angels has been viewed more than 21 million on You Tube when she performed on the show aged 14.
At the time Simon Cowell said: “I'm so impressed with you, Olivia, I can't begin to tell you."
