A POLICE helicopter joined the search to track down a gang of burglars who were targeting homes and cars in Great Sankey this morning.
Officers descended on Worsborough Avenue and Winchester Avenues today, Friday, after police received a 999 call reporting three men acting suspiciously shortly after 3am.
Patrols were sent to the area and two men – aged 26 and 28 from Merseyside – were detained after they were found hiding in nearby bushes.
Both suspects were arrested on suspicion of burglary and remain in police custody.
Enquiries are ongoing to trace a third man.
So far there have been two confirmed break-ins in the area but police believe the number could rise.
A police spokesman said: "If you saw anything amiss or property that has been abandoned nearby then call Cheshire Police on 101 citing incident number 87 of July 28."
