STEP aside James Corden, you’ve got competition in the carpool lane.

The fun-loving teachers at Sacred Heart RC Primary School created their own version of the star’s popular Carpool Karaoke show as a surprise for their year six leavers.

And they didn’t hold back as they sung and danced to their favourite tunes while deputy head teacher John Harris managed to keep a straight face as the driver.

Parents and students were delighted with the video, which included hits like Let It Go from Frozen, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and We Go Together from the musical Grease.

Our Warrington Schools Awards Teacher of the Year Danielle Walker is just one of the members of staff bopping along in front of the camera.

Head teacher Colleen Everett said: “Each year we do a surprise for the leavers’ assembly. We’ve done a flash mob before but we wanted something a bit different this time.

“We had loads of fun filming it. There were no rehearsals and we filmed it secretly in lunch breaks over three days.

“The kids loved it, they are an absolutely gorgeous group so there were lots of tears on the last day of term but the video turned those tears into smiles.

“It’s nice for them to have something to remember us by - I think they enjoyed seeing all the teachers go for it.”

Mrs Everett added that the outtakes are even funnier as teachers struggle not to giggle.

She said: “From outside all you could see was the car rocking from side to side with everyone dancing. Mr Harris changed his headgear for each song and manages to keep a straight face even though we were desperately trying to get him to laugh.

“Maybe it looks more like Peter Kay’s Car Share than Carpool Karaoke with James Corden and Hollywood stars.”

And everybody had their say in choosing the songs as staff downloaded their favourite tracks before hopping inside the Lexus SUV.

“When we sung We Go Together we managed to get about 12 people inside the car. This was an absolutely lovely way to end the school year and say goodbye to a great year six class,” said Mrs Everett.

“It was just very good fun. But now we have definitely got a lot to live up to next year.”
