A TALENTED young dancer will be transported to Narnia after she was chosen to perform in a ballet production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe at the Liverpool Empire.

Abigail Barlow from Penketh has been dancing since she was three years old and this October she will take to the stage alongside other young dancers at the theatre, which has room for an audience of more than 2,300 people.

And the St Gregory’s High School pupil, who turns 16 in September, is ‘excited’ about the opportunity.

Mum Julie said: “Abi has been going to the Felicia Burns School of Dance since she was three years old.

“She has successfully auditioned and been given a place to take part after a tough audition process.

“She dances in pantomime for Felicia but this is the first time she will be performing in such a big theatre.

“We go to the theatre quite a lot so it’s going to be nice for things to be the other way around, with Abi on stage. I can’t tell you how nervous I will be though, I’ll be watching with my eyes shut.”

Abigail trains several times a week and also practices tap, modern dance and musical theatre.

Julie added: “She is excited and can’t wait. It will be a great experience and it’s all good to have on your CV.

“I think she would like to qualify to teach teacher after she leaves school. She’s really quiet but when she dances you wouldn’t know it. Parents, family, teachers and pupils from the school are going to the Empire to watch her perform.”
