PENKETH green belt land is not part of the council's preferred development plan according to a Warrington Borough Council spokesman.

Four areas in Penketh were among the 150 plots put forward by landowners when the authority put out a 'call for sites' as part of plans to build 24,000 homes by 2037.

The proposals include 950 homes to be built between Stocks Lane and Laburnum Lane, 250 between Stocks Lanes and Friends Lane, 350 houses at Penketh Hall Farm and 600 to be built between Stocks Lane and Farnworth Road.

But a council spokesman said: “We can confirm that Penketh green belt land is not currently part of our preferred development option.

"However, as with every other area within the plan, this may be subject to change once comments received as part of the consultation are fully analysed and understood.”

He added it is still important for Penketh residents to have their say on the plans as part of a consultation.

A meeting takes place at Penketh High School on August 14 from 3pm to 8pm.
