I RECEIVED a letter the other day about the absolutely ridiculous scheme regarding the licensing for alcohol on Victoria Park for live and recorded music events.

Are you serious or is this a windup?

We are already plagued by idiots leaving litter everywhere, the situation can only be magnified by this ill thought through attempt to grasp even more money.

During summer there are cans and bottles all over the roads as well as the usual chip papers etc, not to mention the sub humans who assume that it is perfectly ok to relieve themselves anywhere.

With this proposal the streets will stink of urine.

I have had all sorts of rubbish in my garden and am fed up of it, now Warrington Borough Council wants to make it a whole lot worse.

Are they going to clean up the streets every day, are they going to repair the damage to property, are they going to keep the peace?

Unlikely as they don’t do an acceptable job now.

Does this mean that I can continue to work, making noise until midnight? It seems it is ok for the council as long as they are making money.

What happened to the 7pm limit on nuisance noise or does that only apply to us mere mortals?

The very limited list of reasons to object are:

1 Prevention of crime and disorder

2 Public nuisance

3 Public safety

4 Protection of children from harm.

Warrington Borough Council wants to make our lives even worse.

We already get all the idiots but it is not every night or 12 hours daily.

When we do anything outside must we endure 12 hours of noise.

I think Warrington Borough Council hasn’t thought this through, at least I hope they haven’t thought this through because if they have they didn’t take very long or they simply don’t care or both.

Warrington Borough Council is supposed to be here for our benefit, to make our lives better, even to help, not do whatever they feel like and then get us to pay.

I wonder if this is an alternative to the council tax?

I believe that residents in the vicinity of Creamfields get compensation and that is only over a long weekend not five months.

So how about it the council gets real and stop treating us like something you stepped in (probably at some festival).
