A MAN was seen running off with his jacket in flames after an attack on a saloon car off West Lane in High Legh.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened in the early hours of June 30.

Between 12.25am and 12.45am a man approached the junction at West Hall Court and threw a stone or brick through the rear window of a car.

He then set the vehicle on fire using an accelerant before running away from the scene with his jacket also in flames.

The man is described as having a 'distinctive' walk, being of a large build and wearing a grey tracksuit with a thick jacket.

PC Nic Dobson, of Macclesfield local policing unit, said: “I want to appeal to not only anyone who may have seen a man acting suspiciously but who may have noticed burn injuries to the man’s arms and upper body.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 38 of 30 June.
