HELPING refugees across the world was the catalyst behind a 'hook up' at Black Sheep Wools.

Dance teacher Cindy Kelly, from Croft, organised the event as part of a campaign called Sixty Million Ways.

The initiative was launched to help the sixty million refugees who are in need of help.

Around 17 people – aged between 28 and 94 – attended the 'hook' to create blankets.

In two hours the group crocheted a total of 7,000 trebles to create individual blankets which will be dispatched to refugees and UK charities.

Cindy, 51, who hosted, the event said: “We were touched by the generosity of people who had donated blankets to the project and the amount of wool donated to enable more blankets to be crocheted.”

Following this success, Sixty Million Trebles will host another Hook Up on Saturday, August 5, from 10am to 12pm at Black Sheep Wools on Glaziers Lane in Culcheth.

Guests will be provided with wool and the equipment to create their own six-inch square to form part of the blanket.
