WARRINGTON Wolves players are the latest big names to show their support for RivFest17.

Ben Dunne, dad of Viola Beach guitarist River Reeves, visited The Halliwell Jones Stadium to meet the rugby league team along with his wife Sharon to celebrate the return of the music festival for the second year.

The concert was launched last year following the tragic death of 19-year-old River alongside his bandmates Kris Leonard, Jack Dakin, Tomas Lowe and manager Craig Tarry on February 13, 2016, while returning from their first international gig.

River dreamed of performing on the big stage from an early age so his family have vowed to make sure his legacy lives on in the concert set up in his memory.

Ben, River’s dad, said: “River along with his bandmates and manager in Viola Beach were destined for the top before their journey was cut tragically short.

“We want River’s journey to continue so that all that River and his mates achieved lives on in those that the RRF can support over the coming years.”

The Warrington Guardian revealed the line-up earlier this year with the likes of Maximo Park, Billy Bragg and Eliza and the Bear set to take centre stage at Priestley College on September 2.

Proceeds from the festival will help to fund projects set up by The River Reeves Foundation, which aims to inspire the next generation of actors, writers, artists, directors and musicians.

The team from the charity will be working with Arriva NW to set up Riv’s Music Bus fleet.

One of the vehicles will be complete with a recording studio to be used to promote music tuition and performance across both primary and secondary schools in Warrington.

There will also be a single decker buses providing mental health support for youngsters across the town as part of the Future in Mind initiative.

A total of £1 from each ticket sold will be donated to the We Love Manchester campaign in the wake of the Manchester terror attack.

Following their tribute to Viola Beach at Glastonbury in 2016, Coldplay have thrown their support behind the charity.

A photograph of Coldplay will also be printed on the buses.

Tickets are on sale now for RivFest17.

Entry is £20 for adults and £5 for youngsters under the age of 16.

There is a maximum of three children per adult.
