THE sun shone for Penketh Carnival as residents of all ages gathered together for the event.
This year's parade was led by a brass band and Mayor Cllr Les Morgan, followed by a cuddly giraffe.
And the prize for the best costumes went to the 6th Warrington Penketh Brownies, who took part in the parade dressed as 101 Dalmatians, complete with Cruella de Vil, Jasper and even their own Pongo and Perdita.
Cllr Linda Dirir, who has been organising the event with her husband Allin for the past 10 years, said: "What was really wonderful is how the community all got together, including younger people and older.
"Geoffrey the giraffe was going to be at the head of the parade but I'm afraid he was demoted in favour of the mayor.
"This event is run by volunteers, so everything that happens is thanks to them. I would especially like to pay tribute to Chris Whitfield and of course my husband Allin - he makes sure all the basics are working."
Entertainment included a blues band, 1940s musicians who taught guests to jive and lindy hop, and a funfair.
