BURTONWOOD Road (north) southbound will be closed overnight overnight on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

The north east part of the roundabout will also be closed to drivers as part of the multi-million pound project to improve the area.

Access to Burtonwood Road Service Station will be available off Burtonwood Road opposite the junction with Lockheed Road.

The one-way route out of the services will be reversed allowing HGVs to enter the services via Burtonwood Road and also onto the M62.

This will also mean that the HGV ban into Burtonwood Village will remain.

Junction eight in Burtonwood – one of the 'most heavily used and important access points' into west Warrington – was earmarked for work due to often being at capacity and having 'little scope to accommodate predicted increases' in traffic.

The improvement scheme was developed to reduce existing levels of congestion and increase the junction's capacity to support future growth in jobs and houses.
