A CULCHETH beauty salon which is set to feature in a Channel 5 programme has been recognised in an online competition.

The British Hair and Beauty Awards announced 5th Avenue Nails & Beauty on Common Lane as the 2017 Beauty Salon of the Year.

Owner Emma Ellis, 32, spoke of her surprise after the salon received the gold title in the north west category.

After opening their doors in 2005, the salon outgrew its premises at The Courtyard in Culcheth and moved two doors down in 2013, expanding to a team of seven, including an apprentice.

Emma, who grew up in Orford, added: “It’s small enough to be personal but big enough to accommodate people where we can.

“We’re all about customer service.

“We’re just so made up we won this award because we absolutely love our jobs.”

Each girl specialises in something different in the range of treatments offered which includes manicures and massages.

When they’re not serving customers, the team are committed to organising fundraisers.

Previous charity challenges include running the Manchester 10K and taking part in the Culcheth Get Naked calendar, in memory of a client who died from breast cancer.

Emma even opened her doors to a Channel 5 TV crew as a favour for a friend for an episode of Extraordinary People.

An exact date for the broadcast has yet to be confirmed but it is expected to air in August.
