CONCERNS have been raised over the future of Stockton Heath community recycling centre (CRC).
The council has been looking at 'saving options', while preparing a document around the town's CRCs.
Warrington's three CRCs are in Stockton Heath, on Sandy Lane, Gatewarth, on Barnard Street, and Woolston, on New Cut Lane.
Liberal Democrat councillors are continuing to press the council on the Sandy Lane site.
Cllr Brian Axcell (LD – Appleton) said he is 'very concerned' about its future.
He added: "If the Sandy Lane recycling centre were to be closed, the closure would be viewed by south Warrington residents as another hit from the Labour administration at the Town Hall.
"They would be faced with battling across town on a congested road network in order to reach another recycling centre, which would be highly inconvenient.
"Recycling rates would inevitably decrease, which would be bad for the environment."
A council spokesman said 'there are currently no plans to close' Stockton Heath CRC.
