ONSIDE Warrington Youth Club (WYC), based off Cromwell Avenue, is just one of the charities that has benefitted from Carriers for Causes programme funded by retailer One Stop.

Over the past 12 months, community groups and organisations across the UK have been awarded more than £630,000 which has helped nearly 322,000 people.

WYC used the grant to develop a town centre gym facility on Buttermarket Street for young people.

Dave McNicholl, chief executive, said: “This funding from Carriers for Causes has breathed a new lease of life into our youth gym facility.

“We now have 135 new members who continue to attend on a regular basis to achieve vital outcomes in health, fitness, mental well-being and awareness.

“The project has attracted new volunteers from the community and a new wave of young adults accessing our level two fitness instructor course.

“We will now be setting up a range of projects at the gym including sessions specifically for girls and young people who have disabilities, as well as supporting hundreds of current members.”

Kevin Twynholm, head of store support and services, said: “I’m really proud of how well our Carriers for Causes scheme has been received by our local communities.

“It is a real privilege to see the positive difference it has made to so many people.

“We look forward to being able to support more communities in the near future.”
