A 15-YEAR-OLD girl who was charged with assaulting a police officer following reports of a fight in Orford has been handed a youth rehabilitation order.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and using threatening and abusive words to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

She was also charged with criminal damage the following day at a school in Warrington.

Following a hearing at Warrington Youth Court on June 21, the teen was ordered to attend appointments with the responsible officer or another person within the force after pleading guilty to the charges.

The suspect was detained after police were called to Greenwood Crescent at 3.35pm on June 5 following reports of an altercation between two teenage girls outside McColl's.

A 16-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of public order offences but she was released under investigation.
