SEVEN caravans and associated vehicles have set up camp at an industrial estate.

Warrington Borough Council has confirmed the group have arrived onto Eagle Park Drive, off Hawleys Lane.

It is currently 'in the process of ascertaining who owns the land'.

Ten caravans and associated vehicles have also arrived onto the council-owned site of the former Fox Wood School in Birchwood.

Council officers will be making their way to the land, on Chatfield Drive, to carry out welfare checks.

Police were called to the scene at 10pm.

It has been confirmed that power supplies had been cut, which affected around 100 homes.

Officers helped to 'calm the situation', with discussions still ongoing this morning.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service was also called to Chatfield Drive after trees were on fire.

Two fires were extinguished.

At 2.55pm, it was confirmed the encampment vacated the site after the police used section 61 powers.

The group on Eagle Park Drive have also left the site, while the council has commenced legal proceedings to evict four caravans from Woolston Neighbourhood Hub, on Hall Road, after the group failed to adhere to a section 77 notice.

A spokesman said: "We have served the summons to gain the order to evict this encampment."

The court hearing has been listed for 9.45am at Warrington Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
