HUNDREDS of people lined the streets for Padgate Walking Day yesterday, Saturday.
Community spirit gripped the area as residents, both young and old, made their way out for the annual walk along Padgate Lane.
Pupils and teachers from schools were joined by representatives from churches, bands and community groups for the event.
It had been in some doubt due to funding difficulties.
But businesses in the area raised hundreds of pounds to help cover costs for road closures, traffic management, marshalling, insurance and refreshments, so that it could go ahead as usual.
