A NEW skate park or an outdoor gym could be built in Burtonwood as part of plans to provide better facilities for residents.

There is still time to have your say on the proposal following the launch of a consultation earlier this year.

Last week Cllr Cathy Mitchell (Burtonwood and Winwick - LAB) visited a number of properties in the village to collect residents’ views on the plans.

A community consultation meeting was also held in Burtonwood Community Centre, off Green Jones Brow, in March.

She said: “We are asking residents three questions – would they like a skate park, would they like an outdoor gym or would they like the area to remain the same with no changes.

“We need residents to get in touch so we know what people want.

“Once we have this information we can apply for funding.

“I have spoken to people who have been in support of the plans but I have not seen all the email entries.

“We hope to have as much information as possible before we move forward.”

While the plans remain in the early stages, it is hoped either a skate park or outdoor gym could be built on the park next to Gorsey Lane and Clay Lane.

The development would be set back from the park.

There is not a set date for when the consultation will close but residents are encouraged to get in touch as soon as possible.
