A SUSPECTED drug dealer who allegedly tried to avoid arrest by running away from the police was slowed down because of his choice of footwear.

Police arrested two men on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs after a Volkswagen Passat was stopped on Fildes Close in Hood Manor on Tuesday at 9am.

One of the suspects, Michael Wynn, tried to run from the scene while wearing flip-flops but was detained by officers a short time later, police have claimed.

The 21-year-old, from Liverpool, has been charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine.

He appeared at Warrington Magistrates' Court today, Wednesday.

No further action will be taken against a 31-year-old man who was also arrested on suspicion of the supply of drugs.

A large quantity of heroin and crack cocaine was seized at the scene.
