MUSCLE men, colourful clowns and lion tamers descended on this year's Thelwall Rose Queen.

The traditional procession left the parish hall car park at 1.30pm with an array of circus-themed fancy dress costumes on show.

This year's rose queen 11-year-old Maddison Shaw and her attendants, soldiers and crown bearer looked like royalty as they joined the annual parade.

Retiring rose queen Erin Broadhurst and her retinue were also in attendance.

The procession included Lymm town crier, Manchester Phoenix Pipe Band, Thelwall Rainbows, Cheshire Day Nursery, Thelwall Infants School, Tugboats Playschool and Preschool, Thelwall Morris Men and Chris and Tsitsi Adamson of Lymm.

Our photographer David Gillespie was on hand to capture the action.

More photos will be published in next week's Warrington Guardian which will be on sale on Thursday.
