UNSUNG heroes from Warrington have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Thomas Whitfield, who is the director of finance at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, has been awarded an OBE for services to the NHS.

Dr Philip Cooper, who is a nurse consultant in dual diagnosis at North West Boroughs Healthcare and NHS Foundation Trust, was awarded an MBE for services to nursing.

Carol Chapman, from St John Fellowship Cheshire, has been recognised for voluntary service to St John Ambulance.

She was awarded a medallist of the Order of the British Empire.

This year’s list recognises more than 1,000 people for commitment to public service.

The honourees this year also include policeman Keith Palmer, who was killed after confronting the Westminster attacker outside Parliament, and the heroic passer-by Bernard Kenny, who was stabbed trying to protect MP Jo Cox.
