TWO men could face the semi-finals of the national Slimming World Man of the Year for 2017 after dropping a combined total of six stone in five months.

Anthony Meehan, 34, and Scott Lowe, 31, who both attend different weight loss sessions at Winwick Leisure Centre, were awarded Winwick’s Slimming World Men of the Year for 2017.

Since Anthony first walked through the doors of the Slimming World session, he hasn’t looked back.

He said: “Deep down I’d been unhappy with my weight for some time but it took me a long time to face up to it.

“Then when I did admit to myself that I wanted to lose weight I still didn’t want to ask for help.

“I’ve realised now though that far from being weak, asking for help takes strength of character and getting support to make changes has given me a sense of confidence that is benefitting every aspect of my life.”

Scott was worried about what his mates would think when he first signed up – but that soon changed.

He said: “Once they realised I could still have a beer they started to take an interest and when they see me eating things like steak and homemade chips, chicken curry or a roast dinner they always ask how it’s possible to eat like that and still lose weight.

“But what really had them sitting up and paying attention was how well I was losing weight.”

Marisa Simms-Crewe, who runs the Winwick Slimming World group, is proud of what both men have achieved.

Sessions are held every Wednesday at 5pm and 7pm.
