ELIZA and the Bear is just one of the musical acts that will help to keep the legacy of Viola Beach guitarist River Reeves alive when RivFest2017 returns.

Musicians and bands will take centre stage when the concert returns to Priestley College for the second time.

Eliza and the Bear will be joined by Rainband, Spring King, Slydigs, The RPMs, Psyblings and Model Aeroplanes.

The Voice UK winner Mo Adeniran and fellow contestant Max Vickers will also perform at the college where the former Bridgewater High School student honed his musical skills while discussions are ongoing to confirm the headline act.

The talented musician died on February 13, 2016, alongside his bandmates Kris Leonard, Jack Dakin, Tomas Lowe and manager Craig Tarry.

Since his death, his family have vowed to make sure the former Priestley College student’s memory never fades.

Dad Ben Dunne said: “From 400 last year to 5,000 this year.
“The River Reeves Foundation (RRF) has big ambitions.

“River along with his bandmates and manager in Viola Beach were destined for the top before their journey was cut tragically short.

“We want River’s journey to continue so that all that River and his mates achieved lives on in those that the RRF can support over the coming years.”

While Coldplay are unable to perform at the festival on September 2, the band has thrown its support behind the gig.

Phil Harvey, speaking on behalf of the band, said: “If you live anywhere near Warrington, please buy a ticket. It’s a fantastic line up, a top day out and a wonderful cause – raising money to realise the dreams of upcoming talent all in memory of the great River Reeves.”

With the help and the support of people across Warrington, proceeds from last year's fundraising campaign and profits from Rivfest17 will help to fund projects including Riv's Music Bus.

This will be complete with a recording studio to be used as a resource to promote music tuition and performance across both primary and secondary schools in Warrington.

Money raised will also provide bursaries and grants to help young people to pursue their dreams.

Arriva Bus have kindly offered to cover all of the processing costs for tickets.

Doors will open from 12pm to 12am with a dance tent, children’s zone and creative arts village open to festival goers.

Adult tickets are priced at £20 with £1 from each sale to be donated to those affected by Monday’s Manchester terror attack.
