A DARESBURY-based IT company has launched a new computer programme designed to defend against cyber attacks.

Global Lifecycle Solutions EMEA, which is headquartered at Sci-Tech Daresbury, has launched its WipeDrive8 product in order to defend against the risks of cyber attacks and data leakage.

WipeDrive8 permanently removes data, programmes, viruses and malware from hard drives and other storage devices.

The programme has achieved certification from the government’s National Cyber Security Centre, a branch of GCHQ.

Global EMEA has clients in defence, the public sector and banking plus other corporate organisations.

Rod Huffman, managing director of Global EMEA, said: “This news is timely, coming in the wake of the recent massive cyber attack that disrupted so many organisations here in the UK and across Europe.

“Combating cyber crime is one of the great challenges of the modern age and WipeDrive8 is one of the most powerful and affective tools ever developed, and stands head and shoulders above competitor solutions.

“The certification confirms what we already know, but our customer will find the NCSC endorsement gives them another level of reassurance.

“When there is no room for compromise, advanced products like WipeDrive8 are vital.

“It’s not just ready for today’s risks – it’s also ready for the latest hardware technology and we are proud to bring this to market.”
