CROWDS gathered at Bank Park last night to show their support and solidarity for the victims of the Manchester terror attack.

Sisters Kirstie, 30, and Nicole Ruane, 22, and Hayley Ruane-Musgrave, 33, organised the vigil where members of the public were asked to wear brightly coloured clothing to brighten up the ‘dark cloud hanging over us'.

More than £400 was also raised for the 22 victims who died when a bomb exploded at the Manchester Arena on Monday.

The deaths included a police officer from Cheshire Constabulary who previously served in Warrington. More here.

The money will also help to support the many more who were injured during the explosion.

A two-minute silence was held to remember those who lost their lives as well as a balloon release.

Kirstie, from Oakwood, said: “It was a brilliant turnout and it shows the support of Warrington and how much we can all come together at a time like this

"Thank you to the people of Warrington who have backed me and my sisters so we can come together and show our solidarity at such a heartbreaking time in our country.

“The only thing these extremists are doing is pulling us northerners closer together.

“They may have their beliefs but we have strength, courage and love which I believe is more powerful than anything they believe in.”
