A HOLOCAUST survivor has shared his story with pupils at Beamont Collegiate Academy.

Hungarian Tomi Komoly was forced to hide in family friends’ houses and foreign embassies when the Nazis gained control of his homeland in 1944.

On Monday, May 15, he shared his experienced with 60 year eight pupils at the Long Lane school and held a question and answer session.

Tamara Higham from Beamont Collegiate Academy said: “It is a privilege for us to welcome Tomi Komoly to our school and his testimony will remain a powerful reminder of the horrors so many experienced.

“We are grateful to the Holocaust Educational Trust for coordinating the visit and we hope that by hearing Tomi’s testimony it will encourage our students to learn from the lessons of the Holocaust and make a positive difference in their own lives.”
