MAGIC Weekend is due a refresh and should be brought back to the north west according to the chairman of Warrington Wolves.
Steven Broomhead said while Newcastle was an excellent host for the event at the weekend, the time was right for a change of venue.
St James' Park has held the showpiece for each of the past three years and Warrington's 24-24 draw with Wigan on Saturday was the highlight of the two-day event.
Mr Broomhead said: "The atmosphere was good, the attendance was good and Newcastle is a fantastic, friendly city with the ground right in the centre of things.
"But on the balance, as a board of directors, we think it is time for a refresh.
"So our choice would be first the Etihad in Manchester (home of Manchester City) as it worked well there in the past and second Anfield in Liverpool."
He also paid tribute to the estimated 2,000 Warrington fans who made the trip at the weekend.
He added: "We really want to thank the fans for their support. There is no doubt Warrington supporters were the most vocal on the day."
RFL boss and former Wire chief executive Roger Draper said before this year's event that a move for the event could be on the cards for 2018.
