THE council is now seeking legal action after a group of travellers set up camp in Callands.
Despite orders to vacate the land off Callands Road by 5pm on Friday, the group has refused to move.
A section 77 notice was served on the camp on Thursday.
A spokesman for the council said: "Unfortunately the encampment did not leave on Friday.
"We are therefore liaising with the legal team at Warrington Borough Council to obtain a date for a hearing in the courts."
The notice was served after an encampment comprising of five caravans and a number of vehicles parked up on land off Callands Road near to a children's play area on Tuesday.
It has been confirmed the group had previously parked at The Skymaster on Apollo Park.
