TWO roads in Warrington have been named in the top 10 most dangerous roads for motorcyclists in the north west according to data analysed by Swinton Insurance.

The A574 and A49 are listed in sixth and seventh place respectively with High Peak A57 taking the top spot.

The information has been released as part of UN Global Road Safety Week 2017 as Swinton Insurance has announced a partnership with road safety charity IAM RoadSmart.

To mark the joint partnership, the company has published an interactive map including advice on issues such as tyre safety.

Dan Agate, from Swinton Insurance, said: “Motorcycle safety should always be at the front of their mind but awareness events like the UN Global Road Safety Week are great reminders of just how imperative it is to do what we can to stay safe on the road.

“Talking about it now to riders in the north west, ahead of summer months, is really important.

“We hope our interactive map and guides help people to think more about safety with every journey they make, come rain or shine.”

The research compiled by Swinton reveals the motorcyclists most likely to be in an accident by age and motorcycle type across each region in the UK.

Those aged 25 were most likely to be involved in motorcycle accidents in the north west while those aged 65 plus were least likely. Men were also 94 per cent more likely to be involved in accidents than women.”
