TWO junior rugby league players have claimed top prizes after showing off their ball skills.

Henry Briscoe and Sam Ball have been named as winners in the Dacia Flair Play Awards, netting them the chance to train with their professional Super League heroes.

Eight-year-old Henry, who lives in the town centre, was named as one of the four winners after chipping a rugby ball through a car window.

His Crosfields side will now train with Warrington Wolves in July, while Henry will present the match ball before the Magic Weekend at St James' Park on Saturday.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Sam Ball from Grappenhall also gained plaudits after rainbow flicking the ball into the air before drop kicking it onto the crossbar.

Sam and his teammates at Pilkington Recs will now train with players and coaches from St Helens.

The judging panel included former Latchford Albion junior Kallum Watkins.

Leeds Rhinos centre Watkins said: "I knew that there was a lot of talent at the grassroots of the game but all of the judges were really impressed by the level of flair play on display, not just from our four winners but the runners up too.

"We all judged the skills on whether we would be able to do them, and there were some tricks on show that I definitely wouldn't be able to do.

"There are some really skilful kids out there which can only be great for the game."
