WARRINGTON Road Club’s riders are benefitting from their winter training as the road season starts.
After a good track campaign, Paul Gibson has started the year in top form with several top-five finishes, including coming home second in the Darley Moor Criterium and third in the Cheshire Road Race Series.
David Fox has also begun well, finishing fifth in an early-season road race, and other veterans such as Mike Jones and Phil Bracegirdle have also been performing well.
Fox was also in action at the Manchester and District 25-mile Championships and clocked a time of 1hr 2mins 2secs.
Ian Haddock was the best club performer in that race, knocking 30 seconds off his season’s best with a time of 57mins 33secs, while David Wright and Steve Hankey both finished in under an hour for the first time this season.
Time trials have also begun, with Haddock recording a new personal best of 20mins 52secs in a 10-mile event and Steve Hilton clocking 19mins 56secs over the same distance.
