A CASH boost of £1,000 has been donated to OnSide Warrington Youth Club to help disadvantaged young people from across the town.

Members and staff from the youth club visited the One Stop on Ellesmere Road in Walton to present the shop with a canvas to say thank you after the team donated £1,000 through their Carriers for Causes scheme.

The funding was used to support the running costs of the Youth Gym as well as provide 800 free gym visits for young people from Warrington.

Grants and trusts fundraiser at OnSide Warrington Youth Club Jamie Patterson said; “We are delighted with this important grant made by One Stop.

"As a registered charity, the backing of businesses is essential in helping us to support young people and families live healthier and happier lives.”

Bernadette Daniels, store manager at One Stop Walton, added: “We want to support causes that really benefit local people.

"We felt that young people stood to gain a huge amount from the Youth Gym and we were delighted to be able to support the project.”

The Youth Gym was set up in 2013 to provide an affordable and inclusive facility for children and young people to improve their health, fitness and mental wellbeing.

Situated at The Junction on Buttermarket Street, the Youth Gym is open from Monday to Saturday for young people aged eight to 19 and up to 25 for young people with a disability.
