AFTER forty years together, a Warrington man's dying wish is to marry his sweetheart.

And a charity is appealing for help to make the couple's dream wedding happen.

The pair, named only as Cornelius and Michelle, have three children and 12 grandchildren but the charity Wish for a Wedding said they never got around to getting married.

In an appeal the charity said Cornelius has been diagnosed with lung cancer and has been given six months to live.

Hundreds of kind-hearted residents have shared the charity's call for help on Facebook and donated their services for free.

But the charity is still urgently in need of decorations for the ivory and burgundy colour scheme, catering, crockery, linen, a minibus or other transport, a postbox for cards, guest book and ring cushion.

The ceremony is due to take place at Warrington Registry Office on May 19, with a reception at Culcheth Sports Club afterwards.

The couple and charity want to thank residents for the donations and offers of help they have had so far.

Please email zenith@wishforawedding.co.uk if you can help.
