HEAD to the Pyramid today, Thursday, to discover the volunteering opportunities available in the town.

The Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation, Cheshire Fire and Rescue and the Victoria Park Residents Association are just three of the organisations which have been confirmed for Volunteer Festival.

A total of 29 groups, charities and authorities are set to attend the festival which will offer visitors the chance to sign up to a number of voluntary opportunities today, Thursday, at the Pyramid on Palmyra Square from 4pm to 8pm.

Hosted by Warrington Voluntary Action in association with Warrington Borough Council, LiveWire and Culture Warrington, the free drop-in event is open to people of all ages.

David Matthews, who has been involved in volunteer work for a number of years, said: "The appeal of shorter term volunteering is that you can fit it around other commitments.

"I have helped at the last two English Half Marathons and last year’s LiveWire Mile, which only took half a day of my time.

“My volunteering has also been a great opportunity to meet people from across Warrington and shows that anyone can get involved and make a difference.

"Bitesize volunteering works for me, as it lets me make a contribution even when I’m at my busiest."

The event marks the launch of Count me in – a new Warrington-wide campaign which aims to improve the town.
