PLANNING chiefs have postponed a discussion about an application for 770 homes to be built in Grappenhall Heys and Appleton Cross after 'too many' residents turned up at the town hall.

More than 150 people reportedly arrived to find out if the planning application would be approved or denied.

The committee room and another meeting room were full of people, with many residents still waiting in the foyer.

Cllr Tony McCarthy, chair of the meeting, decided to postpone the discussion and said: "There are too many people here. It is not safe. This application is too important to be heard like this."

The planning application will be heard at a larger venue.
