THE weather forecast is looking promising for tomorrow's first #WalkitWednesday.

The Warrington Guardian campaign, supported by Warrington Borough Council, is calling on residents to ditch the car and walk to school or work instead for one day a week.

Forecasters are predicting a sunshine-filled start to the day tomorrow but walkers will probably want to wrap up warm as the temperature is expected to be around three degrees creeping up to five degrees by 9am.

Conditions should also be dry for the walk home with temperatures around nine degrees.

Woolston Community Primary School was among the first schools to back the campaign.

Head teacher Craig Burgess said: "As a school we are always keen to get behind initiatives that improve the health and wellbeing of our children and our families.

"Schools have a vital part to play in educating children not just in core academic areas but also in how to make healthy life choices now and in the future.

"Any campaign that works with children and families is always more likely to have a positive impact on wellbeing than just educating children within schools."
