PLANS to build a two-storey building with three bedrooms and office space in Stockton Heath have been withdrawn following concerns over traffic and privacy.

Dominic Jude, from Folde Properties Ltd, applied for permission to construct the building at the Bridgewater Mews site, off London Road.

Blueprints included proposals to develop three bedrooms on the ground floor and office space on the first floor.

The scheme had initially been for four bedrooms but it was reduced to three, with the ‘parking requirements’ for the scheme also reduced to five spaces.

However, on April 13 the plans for the site were withdrawn after fifteen public objections were submitted to the council.

One resident, who lives on Bridgewater Mews, said the building would ‘increase the already huge amount of traffic’ in the area and ‘lead to more disruption’.

He added: “The last thing that Stockton Heath needs is increased traffic at that junction.

“There will also be an increase in traffic for Bridgewater Mews, which is already very busy indeed, and the privacy that residents had will be reduced even further.

“It just feels that these buildings are being crammed in to an already very busy area and one of the busiest junctions in Warrington.”

Another Bridgewater Mews resident highlighted traffic fears.

She said: “It is my opinion that the proposed development would have a further adverse impact to traffic generation, traffic noise, increased CO2 emissions and quality of air, access, turning on site and highway and pedestrian safety.

“Access and turning on site is already an issue.

“There is insufficient space for two cars or vans to pass each other at the access point when entering the estate and this creates a hazard to pedestrians and motorists.”
