ONE of Warrington’s most iconic buildings is up for sale.
The Academy, on Bridge Street, is being sold for £1.6 million.
The grade II listed building has been vacant for almost a year since the Warrington Guardian moved to its new location on Centre Park but owners have failed to find a business willing to move in.
The building was a teaching academy in the later half of the 1700s and boasted Joseph Priestley among its staff members before it closed in 1782.
In a unique feat of engineering, it was moved to its new location in 1981 after as part of the works on Bridge Foot.
