PENKETH travel agent Angela Perkins advised parents to book early to beat the higher cost of family holidays.

Angela, who has worked in the industry for more than 24 years and has two young children of her own, said the price of going away has always been greater during the school holidays.

But she helps families find the best deal on trips to places like Disney World and water park holidays.

“It’s always been the case that some people take their children out of school for holidays. It’s a historic issue. I think it used to be more common than it is now but I don’t think it was publicized as much,” she said.

“Unless it’s a special occasion, I think parents are more likely to try and keep their children in school in term time. A lot of schools have also changed their holidays now to try and accommodate families and be more flexible.”

But she said it is important to many people to have budgeted for the whole break so there are no unexpected costs, and during the pricier school holidays this can mean some people do not get their dream trip.

She said: “The key is booking early for next year. 2018 holidays are already on sale. Not only do you get what you want, you get early booking offers like reduced child rates and you pay a much better price.”
