OFFICERS and staff at Cheshire Constabulary have raised more than £300 for the family of PC Keith Palmer, who was killed in last month's Westminster attack.

Members of the Warrington police force held a coffee morning to show their support for the family of the 48-year-old who was married with a five-year-old daughter.

A two-minute silence was also held outside the police station on Arpley Street on Monday - on the same day police officers lined the route of the 2.6-mile funeral procession for PC Palmer.

Sarah Pengelly, chief inspector, said: "All parts of the policing family have felt the impact of the tragic death of Keith Palmer and other victims of the Westminster attack.

"We stand together with the policing family across the nation to remember and recognise this.

"Officers, staff and volunteers from The Museum of Policing in Cheshire held a coffee morning to raise money for the PC Palmer memorial fund ultimately raising more £300 – in this we feel we have contributed in a small way to the memory of PC Keith Palmer."

PC Palmer was killed when he was stabbed by Khalid Masood as he stopped him from entering the Houses of Parliament.

Masood, who had already driven into people on Westminster Bridge, was shot dead by police at the scene.
