A BEAUTY queen is backing Warrington’s ambitious 2021 City of Culture bid.

Warrington-born Bethany Trainer, who has been crowned Miss Cheshire Elegance 2017 and will now go on to represent the borough in the Miss British Isles Elegance competition in June, has thrown her support behind the borough.

Bethany pledged her support during a visit to the Town Hall after an invite from Mayor Cllr Faisal Rashid.

She said: “I entered Miss Cheshire Elegance on impulse because I wanted to find a way to represent Warrington.

“It was the first beauty pageant I had ever entered and I never dreamed I would get as far as I have – to be competing at a national level.

“It just goes to show what you can achieve if you believe in yourself.

“That’s why I think the people of Warrington should believe in our City of Culture bid.

“I’m right behind it because as a town we have a lot going for us.

“There are fantastic people and a real sense of community here – and we sometimes underestimate just how good our town really is.

“If we believe in ourselves the sky is the limit.

“I want to help raise Warrington’s profile and spread the word that there’s more to us than meets the eye.”

Cllr Rashid (LAB – Chapelford and Old Hall) added: “I’m delighted Bethany is backing our bid.

“She is a fantastic ambassador for Warrington and I appreciate the wonderful work she is doing to raise the profile of the borough, as well as the extensive charity work she carries out for local causes.”
