WASTE consisting of household rubbish and remains from a 'cannabis grow' have been dumped beside Manchester Ship Canal in Latchford.

The council confirmed the rubbish was searched – to the extent that it could be due to the ship canal banking – but 'no evidence' was found to identify the perpetrator.

A spokesman said it was made up of 'partial remains from a cannabis grow and associated household waste'.

He added: "The waste is on private land owned by the Manchester Ship Canal Company.

"They will be contacted with a request to remove the waste as soon as possible."
