EMERGENCY services were called to Bridge Foot during rush hour after a crash.
The incident involved a lorry and five vehicles close to the junction with Wilson Patten Street.
Traffic is already building up in the area and affecting drivers coming from the south of the town.
The crash happened around 5.45pm today, Thursday.
Police are currently clearing the road although highways officials are warning drivers to expect delays.
