PUPILS at St Vincent’s Primary School are ready for battle after creating their own Roman shields.

Children in years three and four became legionnaires for the day, practising their battle formations and learning how best to approach enemy armies, which helped bring their history classes to life.

The new topic will conclude with a trip to Chester, where the youngsters will join a Roman soldier on a tour of historic sights and learn all about daily life inside the city’s walls at the Grosvenor Museum.
