A LABOUR parish councillor is ready to put the 'unbelievably stressful time' behind him and return to doing what he 'loves' after having his party suspension lifted.

Last September it was confirmed Josh Booth, 20, had been suspended from the Labour Party.

Warrington Borough Council's safeguarding team 'deemed it appropriate' to refer the Poulton with Fearnhead parish councillor to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

But the authority said it was 'unable to comment’ on any individuals’ ‘safeguarding issues’.

Mr Booth has welcomed the news that he is '100 per cent in the clear'.

He said: "It has been an unbelievably stressful time for me over the past few months, hearing Labour colleagues and even friends spreading awful rumours about why they thought I had been suspended.

“My mental health has seriously suffered and I wouldn't have got through it all without my family and closest friends.

“Now I'm back in The Labour Party, I've got a lot planned.

“There are some huge events that I will be organising in Warrington over the coming year that are going to be seriously exciting, for Labour supporters and non-Labour supporters alike.

“Anyone who enjoyed ‘Rock For Corbyn’ last year, keep an eye out for big announcements in the coming months.

“I'll continue to represent the people of Poulton with Fearnhead on the parish council, while also doing all I can to help tackle national issues that affect people across Warrington.

“I'm so pleased to be back doing what I love, trying to make the world a better place.”

Labour North West has confirmed Mr Booth's suspension from the party has been lifted.

But the party, along with the DBS, have also been unable to provide further details surrounding the investigation.

Shortly after the suspension, in September, Mr Booth said: "I look forward to having everything sorted out as soon as possible so I can return to challenging the Tories and making the case for a radical, progressive Labour Government."
